What is RoadRunner Scooters’ Warranty Policy?
Shipping Related Damage
What is our warranty period?
All brand-new electric scooters and parts purchased from RoadRunner Scooters are covered under a limited 180-day warranty. RoadRunner Scooters will absorb all costs, including parts, shipping, and repair work, within the first 30 days from the date of purchase. If the claim is made 30 days after the date of purchase, all shipping costs are transferred to the customer. Please note: certain parts are not covered under the full 180 period. Please refer to the fourth section of this policy for a list of parts not covered for the full 180 days. Should this situation occur, RoadRunner Scooters will provide guided tutorials via email, phone, or videos (many videos can be found here: DIY Videos) to assist the customer with the repair.
All certified refurbished electric scooters are under a limited 90-day warranty, in which all sales are FINAL & non-returnable/refundable. RoadRunner Scooters will absorb all costs, including parts, shipping and repair work, within the first 30 days from the date of purchase. If the claim is made 30 days after the date of purchase, all shipping costs are transferred to the customer. Should this situation occur, RoadRunner Scooters will provide guided tutorials via email, phone, or videos (many videos can be found here: DIY Videos) to assist the customer with the repair.
There is an option to purchase an extended warranty to increase your manufacturer warranty by one, two, or three years; this is added consecutively to your manufacturer warranty. You can extend your warranty anytime within the original 180-day limited warranty period.
All warranty periods offered through RoadRunner Scooters are NON-transferable after the product’s initial sale date; in other words, RoadRunner Scooters will extend our warranties only to the customer who originally purchased the product, and not to any subsequent owner or other transferee of the product. Additionally, limited warranties by RoadRunner Scooters cannot be renewed.
What parts/repairs are covered under our warranty?
The following items are covered under our 6 Month/180-day limited warranty with certain restrictions:
- Speed Controls
- Throttle
- Voltmeter
- Motors
- Batteries
- Chargers
- Suspension
- Headlight/LCD (but only if there is initial shipping damage reported within 3 days of delivery)
A warranty claim can only be made for the parts above once during the warranty period. No part will be replaced more than one time in within the 180-day period. For instance, if a battery is replaced under warranty by RoadRunner Scooters, a second battery will only be replaced in that same warranty period at the cost of the customer.
What parts/repairs are not covered for the full warranty period?
- Consumables such as:
- brake pads
- brake discs
- brake calipers
- tires
- tubes
- Fenders (unless missing or damaged in shipping)[3]
- Headlight/LCD lights (unless missing or damage in transit) 1
- Handlebars and Stems (Scooter frame)
- Kickstands
- Voltage Locks (if keys are lost or stolen)
- Brake Lever and Brake Cables (unless missing or damaged in transit) 1
- Folding Latches and Knobs (unless missing or damaged in transit)
- Nuts, bolts, screws, or any small fasteners found on your scooter (unless missing or damaged in transit) 1
- Lug nut covers
- Regular wear and tear of all parts
What circumstances will void your warranty?
- Damages, malfunctions, or performance problems caused by
- Collision
- Fire
- Accidents
- Negligence (lack of routine care and maintenance, and/or other misuse not in line with the scooter's intended purpose)
- Environmental conditions (including rainwater, excessive heat, excessive cold, acid rain, volcanic ash, sea salt, bird droppings, hail or UV exposure)
- Exposing the electric scooters or battery to ambient temperatures above 100°F or below 0°F for more than a few hours at a time.
- Subjecting the electric scooters to flood water, windstorms, hailstorms, or other similar occurrences by leaving outdoors
- Overloading
- Improper care during shipping
- Immersion of our electric scooters in any liquid medium
- Attempting to alter the programming of any electronic system
- Improper battery maintenance (see manual)
- Upgrades, installations performed, and modifications performed to the part after purchase date that has a direct effect on the warranty claim will void the warranty.
- Commercial use
What is the process of starting a warranty claim? (defective or missing parts)
To start a warranty claim, please send us an email to support@roadrunnerscooters.com, including description, video, and pictures of the issue. You can expect a response from a member of our customer care team within 24-48 hours, wherein follow up questions or instructions will be provided. Resolution time can vary from case to case. RoadRunner Scooters will absorb all costs, including parts, shipping and repair work, within the first 30 days from the date of purchase. If the claim is made 30 days after the date of purchase, shipping costs are transferred to the customer. Should this situation occur, RoadRunner Scooters will provide guided tutorials via email, phone, or videos (many videos can be found here: DIY Videos) to assist the customer with the repair.
What is the process of starting a warranty claim? (damaged in shipping)
All shipping related damages must be reported within 3 days from the date of delivery. To start a warranty claim for a package damaged in shipping, please send us an email to support@roadrunnerscooters.com, including description, videos and pictures of the damage. Specifically, we require the following pictures to resolve a shipping damage claim:
- One Photo showing the full scooter’s profile
- Photos of the specific areas disaffected by the shipping damage
- Photos of the internal and external packaging that shows clear damage to the shipping box
- Photo of the tracking label on the scooter box
You can expect a response from a member of our customer care team within 24-48 hours, wherein follow up questions or instructions will be provided. Resolution time can vary from case to case. RoadRunner Scooters will absorb all costs, including parts, shipping and repair work necessary to resolve the shipping damage issues. Should the situation require it, RoadRunner Scooters will provide guided tutorials via email, phone, or videos to assist the customer with the repair.
What resolutions can you expect for your warranty claim? (defective or missing parts)
- We may choose to address major defects identified during the first 30 days of receiving the scooter by sending you a new replacement.
- The scooter may be shipped to us or to a contracted mechanic near the customer for repair and a subsequent return to customer. Within the first 30 days from the date of purchase, RoadRunner Scooters will absorb all materials and shipping costs. After the 30 days, the shipping cost is the responsibility of the customer. This is rare, as most repairs can be performed at home with our guidance.
- Replacement parts will be shipped to customer, along with guided tutorials via email, phone, or videos to assist the customer with the repair. Within the first 30 days from the date of purchase, RoadRunner Scooters will absorb all materials and shipping costs. After the 30 days, it is the customer’s responsibility to handle the shipping costs.
What resolutions can you expect for your warranty claim? (damaged in shipping)
- Again, shipping related damages must be reported within 3 days of the date of delivery.
- We may choose to address major defects identified from shipping damage by sending you a new replacement.
- RoadRunner Scooters will be responsible for shipping costs when returning a scooter to us for repairs for shipping related damages.
- Replacement parts will be shipped to customer, along with guided tutorials via email, phone, or videos to assist the customer with the repair.
How many warranty claims are allowed within the manufacturer’s warranty period?
- If RoadRunner Scooters has provided 5 or more complimentary replacement parts or repairs within a warranty period for one single order, we reserve the right to void or deny any existing or new warranty claims
- Additionally, a warranty claim cannot be made on the same part twice
- If a customer initiates a chargeback on any purchase with RoadRunner Scooters, we reserve the right to void or deny any warranty claim on new or existing product purchases through RoadRunner Scooters; we also reserve the right to deny service if a chargeback happens
How does our warranty policy change for customers in the lower 48 contiguous states versus customers in HI, AK, or international customers (Canada, South and Central Americas)?
All Scooters purchased outside of the Lower 48 will come with a full 180-day new scooter warranty. Any materials needed to resolve the warranty claim are absorbed by RoadRunner Scooters, but ALL SHIPPING COSTS (starting from the date of purchase) related to warranty claims made outside the lower 48, will be the responsibility of the customer. When you purchase from outside of the lower 48, you must be aware that shipping costs will not be taken on by the seller.
What happens when you are outside your warranty and need assistance with your purchase?
[1] Check the sidewall of the tire for the maximum recommended PSI and stay within 4 units of this number. For instance, if your maximum recommended PSI is 50, you must maintain 46-50 PSI for proper tire maintenance.
[2] Allow the lithium battery to run low between charging cycles to increase battery’s capacity of time.
[3] All Shipping Related Damages must be report within 3 days of the date of delivery
